Contemporary Garage Door Inspiration from Garaga

Contempory Garage

Everyone wants their house to really feel like it fits their personal style. Feeling like you’re coming home is an important part of why we choose the style and décor that we do. Recently, garage door manufacturers have begun to consider how the appearance of garage doors can give a home a whole new attitude. With many new designs on the market, it’s easy to find the contemporary or modern design that you’re looking for Garaga, a company that now has 24 different models, with 7 of them in the contemporary or modern category, is a leader in this recent trend in the industry.

What are contemporary garage door styles?

The most important feature of a garage door that can be considered contemporary or modern is clean, straight lines. Homes with flat roofs or four equal slopes, rather than the standard triangle-on-a-box home, are very common for lovers of contemporary architecture. Often the materials used are a mixture of wood and manufactured stone, and darker colors are more common in modern homes. Large windows and openings for big patio doors are another common feature.

If you’ve ever heard a home being described as inspired by the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, the renowned architect, then you are looking at what is considered a contemporary style. The modern-day ranch style home was made popular in the 1950s by Wright.

Garaga’s Modern Garage Door Options

There are several doors in the Garaga line that are considered contemporary. These are categorized by the clean, straight lines, both horizontal and vertical, that make modern or contemporary homes stand out.

  • Vog: This door has an understated, yet sleek style, with a deep, v-shaped, horizontal groove, 40″ x 1 ¼” (102 x 3 cm) long on each section.
  • Moderno: This door provides three options: The first is has a thinner 3/16″ (5 mm), continuous line running the full width of the door. The second is the 2-Bead option, with each section having a line at the top and bottom, and the third is the Multi, with equally spaced lines every 4 inches or so.
  • Grooved: This door also has a continuous horizontal line, this time 1″-high (25 mm) across the entire width of the garage door. The number of grooves may be either 4 or 5, which will depend on the size of each section.
  • Flush: This door is a throwback to wooden garage doors from the 1950s, and has no embossed lines or grooves. It comes in a light woodgrain finish.
